1979 A month-long rock memorabilia auction begins in San Francisco to benefit the Save the Whales campaign. Among the items sold are John Travolta's black leather jacket from Grease, and a Paul Kantner guitar.

1996 Rob Pilatus (formerly of Milli-Vanilli) is injured when a man hits him over the head with a baseball bat in Hollywood. Pilatus was attempting to steal the man's car.
